When Berkeley the Groodle took out his boredom on a house plant, he forgot one crucial detail. Don’t become implicated in the crime 😳. Here’s what you can do to avoid the same thing happening in your house....
House plants are meant to add a sense of peace and tranquility to your lounge room. For Berkeley however, it was all about their destructibility. With his owners out of the house he tore a palm to shreds and seemingly took great delight in shaking the soil across the carpet. The only problem being when the pot became wedged over his head!
But the groodle isn’t alone in having this ‘expressive’ side. Lots of dogs left home alone seemingly use destruction as a distraction to their separation anxiety. So what can you do? For starters, morning exercise helps to ease excess energy levels. Then, providing time occupying toys (with treats inside) should captivate their attention. Leaving a TV on will also help them to feel less alone. Finally, allowing your dog to ‘hang’ with another dog he/she gets along with can be a great way to discover a problem shared is a problem halved. Making those lonely hearts not so lonely is a great outcome...
